Russell McKinnon (Russ) joined Colliers International in 2006 as Director of the Sydney West valuations team and has 16 years of practical agency and valuation experience operating in Sydney and Canberra. Russ advises that in his property career to date he has worked “twice” as a valuer Russ spent 7 years during the late 1980’s and early 1990’s working for Westpac’s Commercial Finance Unit in the Sydney CBD, before leaving to manage the Canberra operation of the former JLW Advisory (now Jones Lang LaSalle). He then spent 11 years outside of the valuation profession working in a variety of asset management, corporate real estate and development management roles firstly in Canberra and then back in Sydney with the Commonwealth Government (Department of Finance), KPMG, the NSW Government (RailCorp) and Landcom. This period provided Russ with diverse high level property experience, insight as to the formal and informal workings of both Government and the private sector, and a practical appreciation as to how the various property sectors view and utilize the valuation profession. Russ’s team at Colliers International currently numbers 13 operators and support staff, many of whom are under 30 years of age and therefore comprising the professions future!

John then spent a number of year’s overseas working for JLW in the UK and USA in a range of roles including valuations and appraisals and investment fund management.
